Gilbert de Gant 
Gilbert was born in 1040. Gilbert's father was Rudolph van Gant (Lord of Aalst) and his mother was Gisèle de Luxembourg (Countess of Hainault). His maternal grandparents were Frederick of Luxembourg (Count of Moselgau) and Ermentrude (Countess of Gleiberg?). He was an only child. He died at the age of 55 in 1095 in Bardney Abbey near Lincoln City.General Notes
was the son of Ralph, Lord of Alost near Ghent, and Gisele of Luxembourg who had an older brother (in law) named Baldwin, and another named Ralph. This Gilbert de Ghent was a kinsman of William the Conqueror
