Ferdinand II was born on October 29th, 1816.  Ferdinand II's father was Ferdinand (Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha) and his mother was Princess Maria Antonia Koháry de Csábrág.  His paternal grandparents were Francis (Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld) and Augusta (Countess Reuss of Ebersdorf).  He died at the age of 69 on December 15th, 1885.
