William D'Oyly, Esq. of Adderbury West, the elder son and heir, was baptized there September 1751, and succeeded his father in the family property in 1772. After the extinction of the Chislehampton D'Oylys, this William D'Oyly assumed the title of Baronet;[631] but without any right, as his progenitors had diverged from the house of Chislehampton a century before the dignity was conferred upon that family. It was, however, soon after disused. William D'Oyly married his half-cousin Joanna, daughter of Benjamin Aplin of Banbury, Esq. by Susan his wife, sister and coheiress of Christopher D'Oyly, Esq. M.P. for Wareham and Seaford.[632] By this lady Mr. D'Oyly had issue,
