Humphrey II de “The Great” Bohun (1st Baron of Trowbridge) 
Humphrey II, known as The Great, was born in 1080. The Great's father was Humphrey de “The Bearded” Bohun. His paternal grandparents were Sir Henry de Bohun and Margaret d'Eu. He was an only child. He died at the age of 49 in 1129.General Notes

succeeded his father as lord of Taterford. He was Sheriff of Wiltshire and Bearer of the Royal Standard in 1120 in the battle of Benneville in Normandy. Humphrey married Maud (Mathilda or Mahaut, who died 1142), daughter of Edward de Salisbury, between 1087 and 1100. The dowry gave him important estates in the Wiltshire area and the barony of Trowbridge. This was the first of a series of marriages which benefitted the Bohons.
