Johan was born in 1562 in Chickney, England.  Johan's father was Richard Whale and her mother was Thomasine Northen (Whale). She had two brothers and a sister, named John, Philemon and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 47 in 1609 in Colchester, Essex, England.
