Joseph was born in May 1917.  Joseph's father was Arturo Serra and his mother was Francesca Grendelia Ferri (Serra).  His paternal grandparents were Serra and Adele (Serra); his maternal grandparents were Joseph Ferri and Laura Borghi (Ferri). He had three brothers and a sister, named Roberto, Arthur, Leonildo and Laura.  He died due to a childhood disease, Scarlett Fever, at the age of 3 on October 31st, 1920.  He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield MA.1
