Bethiah Edson (Dean)

Bethiah was born in 1654. Bethiah's father was Samuel Edson and her mother was Susanna Bickley (Keith). Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Edson and Elizabeth Copson (Edson); her maternal grandparents were Anthony Bickley and (Bickley). She had three brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Joseph, Josiah, Susannah, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary. She was the youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 74 in 1728.

  Dr. Mary Edwards Walker was a feminist Union surgeon. She was given a Medal of Honor after the Civil War for her bravery as a prisoner of war, making her the only woman to have received this medal.
