Anna was born on June 28th, 1899 in New York.  Anna's father was Thomas James Ashe and her mother was Margaret (Maggie) Troy (Ashe).  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Ashe and Mary Hassett or Holly (Ashe). She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Margaret, Martha and Helen.  Margaret and Anna were twins.
