Henry was born on June 4th, 1868 in Ashton-in-Makerfield and his baptism took place on July 27th, 1868 at All Saints (Wigan).1  Henry's father was Henry Wood and his mother was Alice Naylor (Littler). He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Anne, Mary, Ellen and Alice.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
