Jane was born in 1876 in Turton.1  Jane's father was George Warburton and her mother was Ann Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah (Ann) Kirkham. She had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Robert, George and Betsy.  She was the youngest of the five children.
