Sarah Tong

Sarah was born in 1837 in Darcy Lever and her baptism took place on August 12th, 1836 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

Sarah's father was Robert Tong and her mother was Nancy Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Sarah Davenport. She had six brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Robert, William, Peter, Horatio, James and Hannah. She was the second oldest of the eight children.

General Notes
- Sarah was Robert and Nancy's only daughter. Therefore, Nancy Hannah Tong (birth registered 1859) is most likely her illegitimate daughter, living with her grandparents in 1861.
