John was born in 1775 in Keele and his christening took place there on November 22nd, 1775.1  John's father was Richard Timmis and his mother was Mary Hall.  His paternal grandparents were John Timmis and Elizabeth Hollins. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, John, Richard, Ann, Mary and Rhoda.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died as an infant at the age of 1 in 1776 in Keele.
