Sarah was born in 1811 in Royton and her baptism took place on March 10th, 1811 at St. Paul (Royton).1  Sarah's father was Job Stocks and her mother was Mary Whitehead.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth Hargreaves. She had two brothers and a sister, named Job, Isaac and Ann.  She was the oldest of the four children.
