Mally was born in 1781 in Fartown and her baptism took place on December 25th, 1781 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).1  Mally's father was Joseph Stocks and her mother was Elizabeth Hargreaves.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Stocks and Elizabeth (Betty) Cattons. She had two brothers named James and Job.  She was the oldest of the three children.
