Sarah's father was Thomas Prince and her mother was Esther Eddowes. Her maternal grandparents were William Eddowes and Elizabeth Shortreid. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William, Samuel and Esther. She was the youngest of the five children. She died at 3 months old in July 1908 in Birkenhead.²
