George's father was Hopley Vernon Price and his mother was Ada Cecillia Woodfire. His paternal grandparents were Robert Price and Mary Brereton. He had a brother and four sisters, named Robert, Constance, Eva, Elsie and Vera. He was the fifth oldest of the six children.
