The Will of Robert Mather, late of Farnworth in the County of Lancaster, Brick Maker, who died 10 Nov 1866, and was proved at Manchester by Henry Mather of 140 Peel Street, Farnworth, Potter and Joseph Mather of 92 High Street, Little Lever in the said County, Chemical Labourer, the Sons, two of the executors. Robert of Farnworth (not Eccles), born Bedford, Leigh in 1790 (or 1784 and another family if death age is correct).
3 Jan 1814 Robert Mather (23) and Elizabeth Hardman (22) were married at St Mary's Eccles. Robert may have had a brother Henry who married Nancy Gillebrand there the same day.
In 1841, Robert and Betty Mather (54 & 52) were living at Dial Post, Farnworth with Ann (24), Hugh (20), Henry (14), Joseph (11), and William and Annah Mather (both 21)
In 1851, Robert Mather (61) was a Spade Labourer, living at Back Terrace, Farnworth with wife Betty (60), and Ann (36), Joseph (19) and Henry (23, married)
In 1861, Robert Mather and Betty (75 & 70) were at Spring Gardens, Farnworth, with daughter Ann (45) and Ann Hardman (47, visitor), neighbours of his son William. Robert was a Brick Maker and an employer of 4 men.
