Robert Mather

Robert was born in 1835 in Withnell.¹

Robert's father was Richard Mather and his mother was Ann Marsden. His paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Peggy Duerden. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Miles, Charlotte, Margaret, Betty and Sarah. He was the fifth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 53 in May 1888 in Halliwell. His burial was on May 5th, 1888 at St. Paul (Halliwell).²

  Miles Mather (brother) was a witness to Robert's marriage to Jane Smilth. When Robert married Jane in Dec-1857 he was shown as aged 23 a Finisher from Halliwell, son to Richard Mather a labourer.
