Mary's father was Robert Mather (Cunliffe) and her mother was Alice Heaton.  Her paternal grandparents were John Cunliffe and Eliza Mather. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Robert, Eliza and Emily.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 87 on March 14th, 1959.  She was buried in 1959 in Halliwell.
