Mary's father was John Mather and her mother was Ellen Hesketh.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Mary Howarth. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Mary.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 1 in September 1851 in Salford.  She was buried on September 14th, 1851 in Salford.²
