Leah Mather

Leah was born on April 24th, 1796 in Walmersley and her baptism took place on May 1st, 1796 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).¹

  Walmersley is North Bury, just 2 miles North of the center of Bury. Francis's death record of 1810 also shows "Walm'y", so this is where the family probably lived.

Leah's father was Robert Madther and her mother was Judith (Judy) Chadwick. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Betty (Elizabeth) Ripson. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Francis, Richard, Robert, Patience, Sally, Leah and Lucy. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 2 in September 1798 in Bury. Her burial was on September 9th, 1798 in Walmersley.¹
