Henry's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Mary Mather. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, John, Batrix, Magdalen, Ann, Jane and Isabella.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 68 in December 1832 in Atherton.  He was buried on December 11th, 1832 in Chowbent.¹
