Hannah's father was James Mather and her mother was Nancy Pomfret Cooper.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Mary Gullan. She had a brother and two sisters, named Joseph, Mary and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 1 in September 1870 in Bolton.¹
