Elizabeth was born in September 1862 in Manchester and her baptism took place there on August 23rd, 1863.1 2  Elizabeth's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Catharine Chandler. She had a brother named Ralph.  She was the older of the two children.
