Dinah was born in 1757 in Shakerley and her baptism took place on June 5th, 1757 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Dinah's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Anna Garnet.  Her maternal grandparents were Isaac Garnet and Mrs Isaac Garnet. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Alice, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
