Betty was probably the daughter of Henry Mather (or Abraham Mather), borh of WestLeigh. She lived her life as a silk weaver at Red Street, Atherton.
In 1841, Betty Mather (70), a silk winder, was at Red Street, Atherton with assumed daughter Martha (35), Richard (18) and Sarah (11). James and Peter Marsh (20 & 10) were probably lodgers.
In 1851, Betty Mather (84), still a silk winder at Red Street was with son-in-law and daughter Henry and Martha Caldwell (39 & 44) and grandchildren Sarah (21) and Thomas (8)
