Betty was born in February 1766 in WestLeigh and her baptism took place on February 22nd, 1766 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Betty's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Ann Wainright. She had four sisters named Susan, Matty, Matty and Catherine.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 89 in March 1855 in Atherton.2
