Ann was born in 1814 in Pendleton and her baptism took place on October 30th, 1814 in Eccles.1 2  Ann's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Worsley. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Thomas, James and Harriet.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
