Janet's father was Craigie Marwick and her mother was Isabella Elrick. She had a brother named Robert.  She was the older of the two children. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Richard, Hugh, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She died at the age of 1 in March 1840 in West Derby.³
