Richard's father was James Lomax and his mother was Mary Crompton. He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Peggy, Mary and Alice.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 55 in August 1819 in Breightmet.  He was buried on August 30th, 1819 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²
