Emily's father was John Henry Liddicote and her mother was Lavinia Guest.  Her maternal grandparents were Guest Guest and Martha Ann Eckersley. She had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Ernest, Ethel, May, Edith, Eliza, Minnie and Mary.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 12 in June 1905 in Bolton.¹
