Jane was born in March 1749 in Deane and her baptism took place on March 15th, 1749 at St. Mary (Deane).1  Jane's father was Nathaniel Howarth and her mother was Betty Cowburn. She had a brother and five sisters, named Richard, Ann, Alice, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth.
