Son James, a farmer, died in 1843. James left his brother Robert, a butcher £120 (Robert’s wife had already died). He also left brother Charles and Mary £150. The remainder he left to brother Samuel Hopley (also the executor of his will). Probate was issued 14 Feb 1844.
General Notes
In Sep 1806, James Hopley of Edge, was listed as servant and gamekeeper for Ambrose Brooke Esq. for the manor of Hampton, Malpas (Chester Courant 3/10/1806).
Thomas's three sons William, James and Samuel probably worked together on the farm at Church Shochlach. Their father left them all his stock of cattle and horses and implements of husbandery and household goods.
In 1837, Samuel and James Hopley were occupiers of land at Church Shoicklack. James was at Lane End.
James's Will of 4 Oct 1839 passed probate in 1844
