In 1841, John and Sarah (40 & 35) were living at Dimple, Turton, neighbours of William Probert, the famous Methodist Minister. With them were Ellen (15), John (4), Mary (3) and Esther (1).
In 1851, John and Sarah (51 & 48) were living at 107 Blackburn Street, Little Bolton with Ellen (24), John (14), Mary (12) and Esther (11). Also son-in-law Robert Simon (20) who had just married Ellen.
In 1861, John and Sarah (61 & 58) were with their daughter Esther (21), Grandson James (2) and Sarah Whitehead (10mo)
WARNING: In 1851, there is another John and Sarah Holt (53 & 48), farmers of 22 acres at Holt Folt, Turton. Both alive in 1861 (65 & 59). This John died 1869 aged 72.
