Jane's father was Thomas Holt and her mother was Ann Isherwood.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Holt and Ann Meadowcroft. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James, John, George, Alice, Ann, Esther and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
