Maria Hemmingway

Maria was born in 1839 in Hulme (near Manchester).¹

Maria's father was Edward Hemmingway and her mother was Maria Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Abraham Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Swindells. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Samuel, Hannah and Leah.  She was the second youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 77 on December 2nd, 1916 in Preston.²
