Robert was born in 1795.  Robert's father was Robert Haslam and his mother was Isabel Rothwell. He had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Peter, Thomas, James, Mary, Alice, Ann and Eliza.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1863.
