Ann was born in 1812 in Turton.1  Ann's father was John Haslam and her mother was Mary Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Entwistle. She had five brothers and a sister, named William, John, Charles, Thomas, Isaac and Ellen.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
