Matthew Gledhill

Matthew was born in March 1785 in Berry Brow and his baptism took place on March 25th, 1785 in Highfield (Independent).¹

Matthew's father was Matthew Gledhill and his mother was Susannah (Susy) Dawson. He had six brothers and two sisters, named James(?), Benjamin, Nathan, Joshua, John, Luke, Esther and Nancy. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 56 in March 1841 in Berry Brow. His burial was on March 21st, 1841 in Almondbury.²²

General Notes
- Matthew's father was originaly thought to be Benjamin Gledhill, who was christened on 5-Jan-1760 in Almondbury. His father was also Benjamin (c.12-Nov-1730) and his father John Gledhill.
  
  Another more likely possibility is Matthew is the son of Matthew and Susan, baptised March 1785. This Clothier family were from Berry Brow and used Highfield Independant. The age at death is also more consistant.
