Elizabeth's father was John Gidlow and her mother was Agnes Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Nathan Mather and Alice Makinson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Mary and Ellen.  She was the second youngest of the five children.  She died at 3 months old in January 1864 in Blackrod.  She was buried on January 23rd, 1864 at St. Katherine (B'rod).³
