Cuthbert's father was Henry Gibson and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Giles. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Jane, Ann, Ann and Betty.  He died at the age of 52 in January 1825 in Blackburn.  He was buried on January 17th, 1825 at St. Bartholomew (Great Harwood).¹
