Thomas was born in 1802 in Bolton and his baptism took place on September 3rd, 1802 at Ridgway Gates Wesleyan.1  Thomas' father was James Flitcroft and his mother was Mary Lowe. He had three sisters named Betty, Margaret and Betty.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
