Alfred was born in 1868 in Bosden.1   Alfred's father was James Fidler and his mother was Sarah Ann Fidler.  His paternal grandparents were George Fidler and Ann Fidler. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, Henry, Martha and Emma.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
