Janet, known as Jennet, was born in January 1872 in Birkenhead.1  Jennet's father was William Eddowes and her mother was Elizabeth Shortreid.  Her paternal grandparents were John Eddowes and Mary Whitfield. She had three brothers and four sisters, named John, William, John, Agnes, Jessie, Esther and Lillian.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 29 in December 1901 in Birkenhead.2

‌Jennet and George were married in a religious ceremony in March 1899 at St. Mary (Birkenhead).3   They had two daughters named Annie and Agnes.  There are no more children.
