Frederick was born on January 27th, 1818 in Elsdorf and his baptism took place there on February 1st, 1818.1  Frederick's father was Júrgen Dittmer and his mother was Margarethe Albers. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Johann, Júrgen, Claus, Hermann, Anna, Catharina, Anna and Maria.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.

‌Frederick and Christina were married in a religious ceremony on November 15th, 1850 in Elsdorf.1  The family line is yet to be completed.
