Elizabeth's father was Robert Davies and her mother was Anne Daulby. Her paternal grandparents were John Davies and Ann Whitfield. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Arthur, Anne, Esther, Maria and Sarah. She was the third oldest of the nine children.
