Thomas was born on November 8th, 1835 in Thurstonland and his baptism took place on February 28th, 1836 in Holmfirth.1  Thomas' father was Jonathan Brook and his mother was Betty Moorhouse. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Isaac, Jonadab, William, Harriet and Ruth.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
