Sarah was born in 1851 in Ashton-under-Lyne.1  Sarah's father was William Boothroyd and her mother was Mary Winterbottom. She had five brothers and a sister, named Walker, Wright, Orlando, Henry, Leigh and Bertha.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 2 on February 12th, 1853 in Stalybridge.  She was buried in Stalybridge.2
