Lawrence was born on August 18th, 1791 in Ainsworth and his baptism took place on September 18th, 1791 at Cockey Moor Discenting Chapel.1  Lawrence's father was James Booth and his mother was Rachael Horrocks.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Booth and Catherine (Kat) Holt. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Rachel, Mary, Martha, Elizabeth and Catherine.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
