Happy's father was John Bond and her mother was Ellen Weatherall. Her maternal grandparents were William Wetherall and Ellen Shuttleworth. She had a brother and two sisters, named John, Bridget and Ann. She was the second oldest of the four children. She died as an infant in December 1865 in Bolton.¹

- Happy Bond is an indirect decendant of Happy Mather (nee Lomax). She was named after her aunt Happy Barrow, wife of Phineas Shuttleworth, her mother Ellen's half-brother.
  
  Mothers maiden name is Weatherall. She had two sisters Bridget (b.1863) and Ann (b.1868), and a brother John Patrick, all born in East Bolton.
