Mary's father was Edward Bennett and her mother was Elizabeth Piercy. She had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Edward, Benjamin, Jonathan, John, Nathaniel, Ann and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.

‌Mary and Hugh were married in a religious ceremony on February 12th, 1793 in Northop.¹   The family line is yet to be completed.
